Research Question #3 What are the effects of Hurricane Katrina?
In south florida and cuba was fourteen inches of rainfall, More than 1 million people were left without electricity. The damage in florida was from $1-2 billion coming from flooding and overturned trees. In louisiana when the storm hit it was a category 3 hurricane, and had just weakened from four. 8-10 inches of rainfall, and 900,000 people lost electricity. New orleans had 6 deaths from various reasons, Most of new orleans was flooded. In Mississippi they had 67 people missing, 238 people dead and billions of dollars in damage.Storms brought rainfall with 8-10 inches. From all the hurricanes in the u.s hurricane katrina was ranked #1 in damge it had 81 billion dollars of damage.

Research Question #2 How many lives were lost?
2 lives were lost in alabama, 14 in Florida, 2 in georgia, 1 in kentucky, 1,577 in Louisiana, 238 in mississippi, 2 in Ohio. In total its 1,836. Louisiana included out of state evacuees. in hurricane katrina allot of lives were lost and there were 135 people missing. :( And the total damage cost was 81.2 billion!

Research Question #1 Where when and how did Hurricane Katrina start to form?
Hurricane Katrina formed over the Bahamas on August 23, 2005. It went through Florida as an category 1 hurricane. It became a category 3 hurricane Monday, August 29, in the southeast of louisiana. The most lives were lost in new orleans. It then became a category five hurricane. Hurricane Katrina hit and destroyed the most at Mississippi Beach towns. it flooded 90% or mississippi beach towns. waters from the beach reached cars and buildings 6-12 miles from the beach.
